Uncovering The Wild Wisdom
We are born wild – and wild really means free. In this freedom resides joy, gentleness and creativity. Gradually socialization and adaptation to norms of society, zeitgeists and expectations bring us inside boxes of conformity and we forget our natural beauty, heartfulness and playful creativity. Taming our world around us and taming each other creates a surrogate-reality we call “real life”. But we all belong to freedom as it is the core of our being, so in the long run we experience a deep longing, a call from the heartful wilderness. Answering this call is the journey of deep awakening and joyful re-membering.
The Call of Your Inner Sidhe
Deeply entrenched in the Irish history is the lore of the Sidhe, the forgotten people who lives in the underworld or the world beneath the surface of life. We can approach this dimension from different angles and perceive it as symbolism, fairytales or reality in some way or another. But no matter how we look at it, the Sidhe represents something mythical and archetypal that belongs to wholeness, and therefore it is part of us. The stone circles, fairy forts and remote places in nature call upon us and can become crucial parts of the rewilding we need today to blossom as human beings. The Sidhe are part of who we are. Sometimes they are called “the forgotten people”, and we can ask ourselves if we instead are “the people who forgot”. If the Sidhe are the hidden part of our natural humaneness – what will it bring forth to invite the Sidhe-nature into our lives?
A week of Appreciating the Real You
When we begin to unfold our Natural, Gentle Wildness, we release two crucial needs. The first is the deepest longing from the core of our being, the source of the inner joy, heartfulness and creativity we are here to manifest. The second is the deepest need of our time, bringing the redeeming wildness back to life so we can enliven the ideas, initiatives and impulses the world needs. In this way we act on the clarion call to be who we are, and at the same time contribute to bringing back harmony and a life with sustainability, empathy and deep connectedness with life on our magical home on Earth.
From all of us here at Mulranny Arts Center
Let the Irish Magic Work Within You
The Irish Magic is the inner dimension of Nature Wisdom, able to resonate with all that brings us joy and energy. When we listen to its deep music and vibration, it can help awaken something precious within us. It is a song and a movement we have forgotten but know at the core of our being, and when we lean into it, we can become joyful creators with the gifts we are truly here to express. This is Inner Rewilding and when we follow its path, we can freely be who we are.
This is a special retreat dedicated to that which you are and invite forth your Natural Wildness. Give yourself the gift of realizing your deeper nature while you are surrounded by kindred spirits in a trustful and gentle fellowship. The retreat is arranged by Essence of Mulranny and held at Mulranny Art Center (MAC), County Mayo in West Ireland, a wonderful place surrounded by stunning nature and views.
The retreat will be a living mixture of teaching, meditation, poetry, deep dialogue and resonance, evocative exercises, moving, listening, laughing and wondering.
Nature will be our companion, and we will make visits to special places, including the sacred mountain, Croagh Patrick, and Achill Island.
Our focus will be to rediscover the natural wildness at the core of our being and its expression – aptly symbolized by the ancient triskelion – as (1) genuine, (2) gentle (3) wildness. We will also use principles from the SoulFlow Method – a psychospiritual approach to life, and a form of life-therapy – so we can appreciate ourselves as Story Tellers, Interpreters and Performers on the Stage of Life.
Teaching
We will focus on core themes of our Natural Wildness, addressing questions such as the nature of the Inner Sidhe, the well of joyful creativity and the power of the in-between.
Deep dialogue and resonance
When we listen attentively, we allow depth to emerge and the richness of awareness surfaces. It opens to the precious resonance, and we connect to wholeness.
Meditation
We will practice simple and deep meditative attunements that require no background. Meditation is a simple but powerful way to heart presence and to living in fullness.
Life-Poetry
When we open ourselves to life in its entirety, everything reveals its poetic nature. In simple ways we will make way for poetic beauty and be inspired by selected poetry, including Irish, Sidhe-inspired poems.
Evocative exercises
With our awareness and genuine care, we will use our senses and let our voice, body movements and music be guides on our journey towards more Natural Wildness.
Nature contact
We will also be outdoors and visit special places. We will listen, perceive and trust our impressions, and we will learn from nature.
Allowing Emergence
We will use simple principles from SoulFlow Therapy that allow us to hold space for aspects within us resisting natural wildness. Hereby we take our place as Story Tellers, Interpreters and Performers on the Stage of Life.
Ireland’s Sacred Mountain
We will visit Irelands famous and sacred Mountain, Croagh Patrick, the epic site of pilgrimage with its pyramid-shaped peak and lore of Saint Patrick, the “Apostle of Ireland”. Croagh Patrick is a major power point in the Landscape Temple of Ireland.
Achill Island
We will experience the richness and beauty of Irelands biggest island close to where we stay. It will include Keel Strand, Keem Bay and much more.
Harp Music with Ursula Burns
Composer, harpist, recording artist, performer
Irish musician Ursula Burns has developed a hybrid style of harping that incorporates elements of Paraguayan and Celtic techniques, with a focus on self-expression. On stage, the harp underpins Ursula’s one-woman shows; for composition, she also works with piano.
For the past 30 years, Ursula has toured extensively with her music, performing in every conceivable venue from the Royal Albert Hall to her tiny, custom-made Cloud Truck Theatre. She's brought her magic to audiences across the UK, Ireland, Europe, America and Australia.
Ursula is a perceptive songwriter, who can capture the profound and the mundane with equal clarity. Her 1998 debut album According to Ursula Burns garnered her a nomination by the Hot Press Awards. Six self-penned, self-financed, independently released studio albums followed.
Ursula is an artist who defies categorisation. Her music is emotive, beautiful, dark and dramatic. Her virtuoso skill and dynamic stage presence set her apart as an original artist who breaks new ground. To understand Ursula’s epic odyssey with the harp, dive into her work as The Dangerous Harpist.
Story Telling, singing and magic with Dan O’Donoghue
Meet “Magic Dan” O’Donoghue, a Tipperary man now living in the west of Ireland, where he frequently performs his one-man show of stories and magic in hotels throughout Galway and Mayo.
His shows feature tales of spine-chilling ghosts, crafty conmen, the devil, and of course, Irish Fairies. These stories intertwine with his astonishing sleight of hand, light-hearted comedy, and a touch of mischief. From the very beginning, audiences are whisked away on a wonder-filled journey that stretches from West of Ireland folklore to the card sharks of Las Vegas.
Dan performs with Terra Firma Ireland on a range of unique experiences, including the signature Magic, Myth and Moonlight nights, where his storytelling and magical flair enhance every moment—from hotel lounges to the candlelit Bothy, often described as an unforgettable, enchanting experience.
Being you and being in company with others.
Creating a safe space for each of us and for a trustful fellowship is of utmost importance. From the very beginning it will be emphasized that we encourage a safe space where we can relax and allow life and others to support that we are relaxed and trustful in good company, appreciating our differences as well as our shared retreat.
