Curious about encaustic portraiture and how wax, heat, and imagery come together to create luminous, layered faces?
In this free online class, I’ll walk you through my personal encaustic portrait process from first concept to finished surface, so you can better understand how I work and how you might adapt these methods to your own practice.
This class is designed for artists at any level who are drawn to encaustic painting, portraiture, or mixed media. I’ll share how I approach preparing surfaces, building layers with wax, transferring and integrating imagery, developing skin tones and depth, and knowing when a portrait is finished. Along the way, I’ll talk about common challenges, creative decision-making, and what I’ve learned through experience.
You don’t need to paint along or have special materials, I will show you what I use but you can adapt as you wish. This is an open, educational look into my process, meant to inspire, clarify, and demystify encaustic portrait work. Come watch, listen, take notes, and ask questions.
Whether you’re brand new to encaustic or looking to deepen your understanding of portrait-making with wax, you’re warmly invited to join.
