Artists Travel Journal

NOV 19TH TO 25TH 2019

I’m so excited to invite you to join me for an Art Escape to the west coast of Ireland where magic, mystery and myth enchant the very soil! This 6 night/7 day all inclusive creative journey will be hosted by The Essence of Mulranny Studio, run and operated by artist, Lora Murphy and located in the quaint coastal village of Mulranny! A place full of rugged beauty, fascinating history and endless inspiration!

An Artist's Travel Journal

Create with me this Autumn, a Visual Journal compiled of a delicious collection of varied paper that has been up-cycled, repurposed, transformed, dyed, inked, new and antique with ancient handwriting dating back as far as the mid 17th Century. Each stack of compiled papers build signatures that are bound by wire and uniquely stitched by you, making your very own personalized Artist Journal. You will love to fill your visual journal with worlds of experiences and adventures, imaginations, artwork and especially with words that deepen their meaning and understanding of your inner sanctum. Do all this while grounded on the edge of Ireland's dramatic Western coastline at the Essence of Mulranny Studio.

What better place to create then in Mulranny on the the Emerald Island's Clew Bay with Croagh Patrick in view. During Fall season, the colors and light radiate hues of gold, ruby and topaz, they are magnificent and atmospheric. I promise you will feel it's connection deep in your heart and soul. It is the most healing and inspiring place I have ever journey to. I feel deeply connected to Mulranny ever since I first traveled there this past July. It's stunning landscape, rich history and sensational coastline can be viewed directly out the window while living at the EOM Studio. You will be loved on by it's hosts and Artist owner and operators Cheryl Cobern Browne and Lora Murphy. Your new residence for the week is truly the place to hide away, a safe haven from the rest of the world. Your home away from home will envelop you with open arms, immediately welcoming you to move in and make yourself comfortable. Enjoy home cooked delicious Irish cuisine from the Chef during our meal service and a help yourself coffee bar and kitchenette any time during your stay.

Join us for 7 days and 6 nights, all inclusive meals and lodging, (with the exception of one lunch and dinner )while making connections and lifelong friendships with our creative tribe. Explore with us and journey through the Essence of Mulranny on the Emerald Island while we venture on outdoor excursions as planned for memory making time together. Our adventures range from group walks beach side, a visit to Mulranny's book store to hunt local emphemra, shopping in Westport'sVillage, as well a tour of the Achill Islands. Plan to gather around the Bonfire in the early evenings to share stories and friendships while sipping on Ginger's well known medicinal Hot Toddy Tea, topped with or without some Irish whiskey accompanied with the American version of Campfire S'mores. Her family's Toddy recipe promises to sooth the body and your soul on many levels.

About Ginger Wilson

As a Creative, Ginger has always written her thoughts, heartfelt sentiments and experiences in some form of a diary or journal, even in daytimers, scrapbooks and logs, documenting her life along the way. Her keepsake method evolved as did her passion for travel and seeking an artful community.

A dedicated business professional and entrepreneur, Ginger is also a passionate Artist and Photographer, she concentrates on Intuitive Painting and Mixed Media. She also enjoys Floral Designing for events and venues and works as an Interior Designer and Stylist for close friends and family. Most recently she has been teaching art workshops in her Connecticut based Stoneybrook Studio.

Ginger's desire to travel throughout Europe and the United States combined with developing her artistic ability has lead her to make Artist Travel Journals, documenting the wonderful places she visits. She makes a new unique handmade art journal each time she takes a trip to document the travel experience and essence of the country or state she is exploring. It is also meant to captured her artwork in real form, attempting to document her new studies and art processes. Each page is meant to work as a potential canvass, uniquely sized. Adding to the journal are original pages of her rare antique ephemera collection, giving them it's signature look. Ginger textures each individual page in her journals with plasters, stencils and transfers, adding color and substrate to the surface, readying them to receive artwork or written words, inks or any medium on cue…

I Can't wait to share my collection of original papers dating as far back as 1612 on parchment, all handwritten and sacred ephemera in honor of this workshop..

From our host Lora…

We invite you to imagine standing on the panoramic hillside of our studio, taking in the spectacular views of Clew bay and Croagh Patrick (Ireland’s holy mountain).

Open your heart to the profoundly moving drama of constantly shifting Atlantic skies, reflecting an ever changing light show on the bay. The wildness and drama of this spectacular area belie the peace and connection you will feel to Ireland and to this very special place.

Lay on a blanket in the heather and watch the stars emerge on a clear night or walk along the rocky shores, to gather shells, driftwood and memories. Find yourself letting go of the stress of everyday life, feel the mystery and beauty of this land, awakening your senses.

This unspoiled place provide a safe place of inspiration and experimentation to stretch your skills in whatever medium you are working on, in an amazing state of the art studio..

Being in Mulranny is all about being on the edge, on the edge of Europe, on the edge of land and the great ocean seas and the edge of yourself. Edges lead to new boundaries when invited to expand.

Dream about the history of past times, evident in every field with old stone walls, every stoic castle and each abandoned cottage.

Meet the local people, warm, friendly and always happy to chat and share a story or a cup of tea. Shop in our local village of Westport and pop into a local pub or two!

Finding something to inspire you is not hard with the richness of the various eco systems surrounding Mulranny - from marine to mountain landscapes, with grasslands, bog and heather hills - this enchanted land casts a spell on any artist.

Visit historic sites, Learn about the infamous Irish Pirate Queen and visit one of her many castles. Hear the story of our Stone Age ancestors and experience the myths and magic of Irelands spiritual roots while standing in one of the ancient stone circles. This is indeed a land of legends!

Bring your camera , your sketchbooks and prepare to lose your heart in it all, your mind full of inspiration.
