Your journey starts the moment you decide to join us..Ireland has a way of getting into the heart and soul.. and never leaving. Rediscover your love of the soulful places , the magic of a country that is steeped in history and legend .This journey is not just about art but the joy of being a part of this lovely land ..

BEGINNING

There is nothing to fear in the act of beginning. More often than not it knows the journey ahead better than we ever could. Perhaps the art of harvesting the secret riches of our lives is best achieved when we place profound trust in the act of beginning. Risk might be our greatest ally. To live a truly creative life, we always need to cast a critical look at where we presently are, attempting always to discern where we have become stagnant and where new beginning might be ripening. There can be no growth if we do not remain open and vulnerable to what is new and different. I have never seen anyone take a risk for growth that was not rewarded a thousand times over.

  • Feeling the privilege of art-making is what drives the playful, often soulful paintings of Christina Lovisa. Drinking in the fuel of exploration, she produces large bodies of mixed media and encaustic work which emerge from “waves of inspiration”. Found-objects, obscure images and fragments of text are likely to influence a new series of work as she attempts to decode the mystery from their unrecorded history, leaving the viewer to formulate the story for themselves. After all, don’t we all feel the need to know the story?

Art of Presence

What would your art look like if you responded to the NOW rather than planning every aspect your paintings? What if you stripped away the ego’s need to produce something relatable and discovered what your spirit longs to paint? The lines are blurred between reality and fantasy, truth and understanding and the dream world vs life. E.O.M. quotes, “Here, land and sea meet at the threshold of a powerful creative adventure.“ Join me as we relieve our tired-selves from “producing” art and move into a magical world of “creating” art through the response of the senses.

Mulranny is a small seaside village on Clew Bay in Co. Mayo. It is located at the dramatic west edge of Ireland, the end boundary of Europe. Here we plan to dive ever so deeply into a merger of our incredible surroundings with guided art lessons in the combination of mixed media and encaustic. Through the layering photos and images, paint and encaustic we’ll uncover understandings about our calling to art, what it means and what purpose it serves us. Christina is known for guiding her students though exercises that produce art intuitively and quickly providing results full of impact and meaning. From Christina, “Escape with me to a fantastical, magical place where we will explore the combination of mixed media and encaustic art together. Be prepared for an art making experience that will bring about authentic expression of yourself, perhaps never fully explored.”

Details:
6, 12”x12” flat wood panels will be provided along with mixed media supplies and encaustic. Four different projects will be the basis for our lessons and there will be plenty of time to work on the art to integrate it into your practice. Photos will be taken and printed onsite leaving us with a true sense of connection to our incredible surroundings. Quiet time and meditation practices will be worked into the program to allow us time and space to process the magnitude of the experience.

Christina Lovisa made the career move from dental hygienist to Mixed Media Artist in 1999. Today Lovisa is considered a master mixed-media and encaustic instructor. She continues to strengthen her knowledge of materials and mediums through independent studies. Over the past ten years, she has become proficient in encaustic art and has published a DIY book entitled, Two Worlds Collide. Lovisa's work is represented by the Alpha Gallery of Ottawa, Canada as well as various international galleries. Her original mixed media pieces can be found at Cirque du Soleil’s, MJ ONE boutique in Las Vegas.

From our host Lora…

We invite you to imagine standing on the panoramic hillside of our studio, taking in the spectacular views of Clew bay and Croagh Patrick (Ireland’s holy mountain).

Open your heart to the profoundly moving drama of constantly shifting Atlantic skies, reflecting an ever changing light show on the bay. The wildness and drama of this spectacular area belie the peace and connection you will feel to Ireland and to this very special place.

Lay on a blanket in the heather and watch the stars emerge on a clear night or walk along the rocky shores, to gather shells, driftwood and memories. Find yourself letting go of the stress of everyday life, feel the mystery and beauty of this land, awakening your senses.
